Factory Bakers Local Union 264 in Toronto became a chartered Union of the Bakery & Confectionery Workers International Union of America in 1944. The constitution, by-laws, rules and regulations afforded the workers fair wages and a voice for a safe workplace.
Over the years the name and scope of the International Union has changed; growing to include Tobacco Workers and Grain Miller, and the power of the Union has grown accordingly.
Local 264 has served workers of the Bakery and Confectionery Sector in the Greater Toronto Area for almost eight decades. And in this time has expanded its membership base to be the largest Local Union in Canada.
Along with growth comes strength, fairness, and a strong voice to uphold the rights of the members. Local 264 will continue to proudly represent all the Brothers and Sisters in our organized workplaces for another eight decades – or longer.
